My Experiences at Burningman

September 8th, 2009 · No Comments

THINGS I’M GLAD I DID
1. Stayed in an RV. A hot shower before bed every night was amazing. Thanks Lynn!
2. Brought lots of costumes – I hardly wore any “Civilian clothes” during the event and it helps to make you feel a part of things.
3. Decorated my bike. Though I saw so many great ideas, I will have to do it better next time.
4. Wore a wrist watch. Not only to tell time, but every time someone asked me the time, I had the chance to start a conversation.
5. Brought my tarot cards and read them for people whenever I got the chance. I just set up shop in center camp and a line would form.
6. Hopped on a art car. I later found a friend from the Far West ski club because of this.
7. Bought coffee every morning – another chance to connect with people, and this is how I found Lindy.
8. Brought necklaces to give away. Every time someone complimented one of them, I gave them the one they admired.
9. Volunteered to work the cash register for the coffee shop one night between 11PM and 3 AM. Great chance to meet great people.
10. Rode without any plans in mind. Usually within 5 minutes, some really interesting art piece or event at a camp captured my attention. Kept on doing that and the days flew by.
11. Sprayed my self liberally with sunscreen every day and stopped trying to protect my skin.
12. Glad I found Lindy and she hung out with me for Santarchy and we rode the Playa at night.
13. Danced at Opulent Temple. Great DJs and energetic crowd with amazing neon costumes!
14. Hung out with my friend John from Far West (Wristy) for 3 nights and got to watch the burn from he top of his art car.
15. Helped prepare 600 Jello shots for Camp Jello Shot.
16. And too many more to count….

THINGS I WISH I HAD DONE
1. Gone to a few more of the scheduled events, like the Geek conference and the Solar seminar
2. Wish I’d known how easy it was to hop on an art car earlier in the week
3. Wish I’d just wandered into theme camps more and just checked out their stuff. Burners WANT you to use/consume/explore the events and substances you’ve concocted.
4. Wish I pulled around an ice chest with beers and snacks the whole time so I could give them away
5. Wished I’d given my unused costumes away to the Boutique camp, where you can just go and get anything you want to create a costume.
5. Wished I’d brought more neon to accent my bike and outfits.
6. Wished I’d had more cool-looking footwear
7. Wished I’d had more angel wings.
8. Wished I’d camped with a theme camp.
9. Wished I’d known Kirk was there so I could hang out with him.
