It’s pretty crazy that hours or even moments before someone who is terminally ill or wounded dies, they are alert, walking, talking and just being THERE. I always thought you slide gradually into the great beyond, but that’s not the case. Which makes it all the more scary. I guess you just never know how long you have, period.

GM is Going All Out to Convince the Public Their Products Aren’t Crap
November 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Just read this blog…
http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/
Blog? GM? Wow! The entries seem entirely focused on whether or not the general opinions of the American public towards the American products are true or false. The fact that they are even calling the blog “Debunking the Myths” means that its a well known fact that the general public is not convinced that GM quality is there.
While I’m a fan of loaning the Big 3 money to save their miserable butts and our economy, I’ve said since the first time I had to choose a car that I would never buy an American one.

A tribute to Leo, From Dave
November 17th, 2008 · No Comments
So hard to say this our friend, Leo, crossed the River tonight. He’s eddied out, on that other side, got a campfire goin’ already and a pot of coffee on…………. And you know he’ll be there for each of us, when our own time comes for that final river trip.
In so many ways, he was the best of us…the sudden, infectious laugh, the helping hand, the open heart……and so much more………
As most of you already know, Leo has been in an absolute dogfight with a grim, unrelenting illness………. He wore it with an abiding dignity………His concerns, right up to the end, were more about family and friends than himself……..
I am proud to have been among that number that he counted as ‘friend’…I’m grateful for all the years, and every trip that we made together……… One-of-a-kind, irreplaceable, unforgettable……
I firmly believe that as we carry him close in our hearts, a part of him will always be with us. There never was………or ever will be…….a river trip without a couple of ‘Leo’ stories……..
Ken and Leo (right) share a laugh.
Peace be with you, my brother.

Iraq cabinet backs pact giving U.S. troops 3 years
November 16th, 2008 · No Comments
Yahoo!! Immediately, it takes away any authority of the US. About time. And this cannot be a coincidence….
- It calls for U.S. forces to leave the streets of Iraq’s towns and villages by the middle of 2009. Dabbagh said U.S. forces would hand over their bases to Iraq during the course of 2009 and lose the authority to raid Iraqi homes without an order from an Iraqi judge and permission of the government.
- Iraq’s cabinet approved a pact on Sunday that will let U.S. troops stay in the country until 2011, setting a final date to end a military presence that began with the 2003 invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.
- The draft would place the U.S. force in Iraq — which now numbers about 150,000 — under the authority of the Iraqi government for the first time, replacing a mandate enacted by the U.N. Security Council after the U.S. invasion.
I am happy!

Stock Market Lesson
November 14th, 2008 · No Comments
Once upon a time, in a village, a man appeared and announced to the
villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each.
The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to
the forest, and started catching them.
The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to diminish, the
villagers stopped their effort.
He further announced that he would now buy at $20. This renewed the
efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.
Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to
their farms.
The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so
little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it!
The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50!
However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant
would now buy on behalf of him.
In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers,
‘Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected.
I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city,
you can sell them to him for $50 each.’
The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys.
Then they never saw the man nor his assistant again, only monkeys
everywhere!
Now you have a better understanding of how the stock market works.
