paramoralism

July 29th, 2008 · No Comments

def. A paramoralism is a pseudo-moral statement. It is stated in moral-like terms but with precisely the opposite intent and effect: to get what the commenter wants and to bamboozle the other person into being unable to use their normal means of knowing right and wrong.

I’ve heard a lot of those things recently!

I love Twitter!

July 28th, 2008 · No Comments

If you don’t know about twitter – it’s time to start! Twitter is mostly a mini-blog, allowing you to make posts of 140 character or less. (See the About page of this blog). Now there are even more ways to enjoy it! Many of the posts on this blog are made through Twitter. I quote my friends constantly or just do brain downloads right when I think about something. Who cares what I think? I guess you do, if you’re reading this page. 😛

Some of cooler Twitter tools are contained in the following article. The best is the one which will allow you to post pictures. Yeah!

Happy Tweeting! Oh yeah, if you would like to follow me on Twitter, my id is (guess what!) techartist.

After Being Struck by Lightening, Men Can’t Name Current Year, but Know Golf Score

July 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Just heard this on the radio, and it made me giggle…

Scottsdale, Arizona
Apparently two men yesterday were struck by lightening while playing golf. (Darwin Awards, anyone? There were massive amounts of lightening strikes all over the valley yesterday). When the rescue workers arrived, both men were unconscious with lightening exit wounds on their bodies. One man had his shoe blown off.

And yes, neither man could name the year or their own names, but one knew his golf score. Both men were treated at local hospitals and apprently are in stable condition.

Physical prescriptions for recovery

July 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

1. Exercise.

A daily bout of exercise – walking, running, lifting weights, dancing, the elliptical, yoga – will help your brain both regulate and release your feel-good hormones. A bonded relationship causes your brain to release oxytocin, a powerful “commitment” peptide. When it goes away you can become depressed. So let those other helpful hormones fill in the void. Exercise!

2. Eat a lot of fat.

Beneficial fatty acids in things like olive oil, nuts, avocados and salmon will baby your brain and help keep your mood stable. Eat some at every meal from here on out.
